This absolutely gorgeous Zimmermann skirt worn by the equally lovely Jess of Tuula really inspires me to DIY - by taking a mini skirt and layering strips of maxi length fabric underneath for maximum swishy effect!

DIY ON THE RUNWAY - VICTORIA SECRET 2011 RUNWAY SHOW

Putting aside the out-of-this-world bodies for a minute - lets focus on the amazing DIY inspiration that sailed down Victoria Secret the runway last night. Gahhhhh! Whoever makes the costumes is incredibly talented and deserves a medal for their DIY skills and ability to see sexy potential in every outfit. The floral bow embellished shoulders took the cake for me, along with the studded wings, a maxi skirt made out of a patchwork blanket, peacock feather skirt, leopard print wrapped top, and rainbow crochet bell sleeved number. The hotties have inspired me to take my crafting to another level!

Kowloon flower markets
The Kowloon Flower markets in Hong Kong are some of the best ones I have ever been to. Although they lack the hipster and bagel element of Columbia Road, they definitely kick ass in the stuff-yourself-with-dim-sum-after department. Don't forget to shop my closet here.

DIY Flower Harness Underwear
How amazing and gorgeously textured are these flower encrusted harness bras? You could definitely make your own with the help of a bra, some plastic or silk flowers and a glue gun. I love it. If you haven't got a hot glue gun you should definitely invest - they are absolutely essential for DIY.

DIY Side Split Dress
Have been doing a lot of research on what style of bodice to do for my side split dress - after getting some great feedback from you guys this week on the asymmetric style I made last weekend (so helpful, thanks!). This twisted cut out style is also so gorgeous... and DIYable? Watch this space...

DIY Maxi Skirt and Midriff Top
This is SUCH a gorgeous maxi skirt. I love the gathered waistband and spare few inches at the top. So incredibly easy to make too. The cut off midriff top is very doable as well! And is that not the most beautiful hair ever?

DIY Christopher Kane Inspired Tassel Earrings
Continuing the theme on from my recent Jil Sander inspired DIY maxi, I have been feeling very bright and neon recently. It probably helps that Hong Kong winter is pretty damn pleasant compared to London. I absolutely loved the Christopher Kane Spring Summer 11 collection and wanted to make something inspired by the brights. Neon accessories are particularly good if you want to get amongst the brights trend but dont want to go large on a dress or trousers. Found these tassels in a market and was instantly inspired. Bought some little earring studs and tied the tassels on. I can separate them in the future and just wear one colour, very versatile!
Wearing: DIY tassell earrings, vintage floral dress, tan sandals by river island.
