DIY JASON WU INSPIRED LACE EMBELLISHED SWEATSHIRT

If you've been following me for a while you'll know that I fell in love at first sight with the Jason Wu AW11 collection. Gorgeous tailoring, velvet bow ties and thigh high splits were topped off with one stand out piece for me - a lace embellished sweatshirt. Inspired by this gorgeous collection, I recently embellished an Asos Lightweight Sweatshirt with some scalloped lace to wear to the Asos Tea Party. You may remember I did something similar to a pair of J Brand Jeans a while ago.

The project was really quite simple - I just pinned some scalloped lace along the shoulder seam and down the side of the sweatshirt and then carefully handstitched with black thread all the way around.

Update: In response to a question from a reader, in the corner where the lace does a sharp turn, I cut it and then layered the bottom piece underneath.

And voila! It's such a simple way to update a basic piece.

Have you voted for your favourite Asos Tea Party look yet? Make sure you do because one voter gets £250 to spend at Asos! Voting closes Oct 17th.

DIY Beaded Grey Marl Sweatshirt

The addition of cute beading to a laid back grey marl sweatshirt really does it for me. Found this pic over at AfterDRK. Putting it on my list.

I've also recently become addicted to a blog called Brisbane Daily Photo. Brisbane is my home town in Australia, and lucky for me the photographer lives in the quirky but lovable suburb of West End that I grew up in. For those of you living away from your orginal home town, you probably know how nice it is to be reminded of your favourite old haunts. It makes me a little bit sentimental to say the least (this is the part where my parents say 'ohhh well then why wont you come hooommme???')  From what I understand there are daily photo blogs like this for almost every city around the world - I think there is a search function on Brisbane Daily Photo which allows you to find your city. Head over and check it out.

DIY Deconstructed Camel and Marl Shirt

I adore this look. Cut the sleeves off a sand coloured business shirt (this one might be leather but thats a bit hard to DIY), replace with grey marl sleeves from a tee or sweater. Pair with a full black skirt - I have a gorgeous wool one from Rome that I adore that would go perfectly with this look. Oh, by the way, if you get sick of your full Betty Draper style midi skirts, cute them into mini skirts like this.

By the way, I have soooo much DIY inspiration stored up, but I hate to bombard you with posts, do you think less is more?

DIY Sweatshirt Cardigan

Ok so who doesn't love grey marl? Grey marl DIYs, well they're pretty much up there with my favourite things of all time. The lovely Hannah of Thursdays Child put me onto this amazing DIY (I love when my readers let me know about their favourite DIYs!). A cardigan made out of an old sweatshirt from Heart Charlie (love this blog too, her addiction to stripes is lovely).  I've done this before with a pink silk top, created a little jacket by simply cutting down the middle and stitching the edges. Simples!
