. . . there are things we always come back to, one of which was intimated last week, and on this [romantically] overcast thursday, in a dusky café with a stack of [more] thank you cards to write, have been drawn, again and again, to this breezy, springtime-perfect room -- first published here, [like betsey johnson's pink manhattan apartment], in 2007, with the actual image, astonishingly, dating back to 2001, and yet, the clamshell-ruffle appliqué tablecloth, draped along the hardwood and shaped from a continuous two-hundred-yard-long strip of damask, is as breathtaking today, as it was so long ago . . .
. . . first came across this centuries-old home in normandy last november, and immediately fell head over heels, and so, was utterly thrilled to happen across it again, in the current issue of veranda; and while one is impossibly drawn to the allure of the leopard silk velvet canapé, there are still a myriad of beautiful things to captivate -- the floors, [always, the floors], the gilded picture frames and cashmere throws, the antique bergères in stroheim suede, the grand chandeliers and palest shades of gray, and most of all, that perfect mix of relaxed & refined . . .
. . . the first week of this new year has already been a spectacular flurry of activity, beginning with a new tiffany blue & gold-leafed daybook waiting to be filled, and on the eve of new year's day, a meeting in a hotel lobby amidst the still twinkling post-holiday fairy lights, to plot and to plan and to dream, and there is so much to tell you, including, currently, two enormously exciting projects in the works, a wedding in paris in june, and still to come, the grandest adventure of all, that may just change everything -- and so, it is wild anticipation that we begin the second week of this new year . . .
. . . and while saturday mornings are lovely things in and of themselves, this one began drenched in golden sunlight, the kind that warms one's face on a bright winter's day, flooding hearts with happiness uncontained; and this weekend is red wine and good music, sorting & organising and plotting & planning, coffee table picnics and delicious nostalgia, and there's still sunday . . .
hope you're having a perfectly wonderful weekend, and that it's beautiful where you are, roséline xo
. . . swept away by the soaring, perfectly ornate ceilings of book publisher angelika taschen's berlin home, not to mention the miles of bright white walls and parquetry floors, gilded mirrors, and most of all, all those chandeliers . . .
. . . from stockhom to malmö, and intoxicating mix of fireplaces and french doors, intermingled with perfectly ornate ceilings, crown molding and breathtaking floods of light, gilded mirrors from paris, and washed herringbone floors, time-worn wood, marble, and bits of gold . . .
. . . a bright and chilly afternoon, perfect for lattes and crackling fires, and things are nearly ready and carryalls packed for the countryside for a few days, but first, a quick hello to wish you a very happy night before -- hope you're somewhere cosy and surrounded by laughter and love . . .
