DIY INSPIRATION - PAINT SPLATTERED DENIM
I'm super inspired by this editorial by Rodeo of paint splattered outfits - big thanks to Mandy for bringing it to my attention. Most of the clothes are Never Denim, and I'm particularly loving the splattered accessories. Something to do this weekend perhaps?

DIY STUDDED DENIM CUT OFFS
Today I'm going to share with you a guest post from the lovely Julia of Free People. You may remember I posted about embellished denim cut offs a while ago, and so we decided to bring you a project you're all aching for - a tutorial for studded denim cut offs. Julia take it away!
I have been wanting to do this DIY for quite some time now, but with the current denim dressing feature on our website and studded trend I told you about yesterday, the stars all aligned and it finally came together this week! I’ve seen many ways to stud a pair of cutoffs or jeans, but the two images above, found on tumblr, really stood out to me. I love the subtlety of the triangle of studs on the cutoffs, and the torn back pocket folding over to reveal studs on the inside. The best part about this project is how easy and fun it is to do!
What you need: A pair of jeans or cutoffs (I used the fp denim cutoffs) and some studs of whatever shape or size you choose. You can find a variety of studs on etsy (or ofcourse studs and spikes).
I decided to use these little silver pyramid studs, and laid them out first on the shorts to make sure that’s where I wanted them.
I was able to poke the prongs of the stud right through the shorts very easily – then just press them down flat to hold the stud in place!
If you want to, you could also sew a piece of fabric over the studs, just to make them more comfortable against your skin.
I wish someone had warned me about how addicting studding can be… I now have the urge to stud all my clothing!
Thanks Julia! I know that Free People have some studded bits and pieces too if you are looking for inspiratio for your own studded project. And be sure to check out Free People's blog and keep an eye out for future DIY collabs.

TREND: DIY DENIM CUT OFFS
Is it just me or are destroyed denim shorts where it's at right now? Ripped, studded, torn, bleached, dyed - it seems you don't have to scroll very far on instagram to see a legion of denim and stud clad bums. It seems everyone is trying their hand at making their own unique pair, and there really isn't any reason to hold back. I mean, who doesn't have an old pair of jeans in their cupboard that need some love?
To start, you use the tutorial I show you here to create the base for your project - a pair of perfectly shaped distressed cut offs. Then, go crazy with studs, paint, lace, fabric, dye (ombre of course!) and bleach to create your one-of-a-kind pair. Pair with thick tights, boots and a coat until summer lets you get your pins out uncovered!

DIY SCALLOPED DENIM SHORTS
I posted a long time ago about scalloped denim shorts here, and it seems that a few of my favourite brands have got on the bandwagon lately - namely State of Georgia and Nasty Gal. I can see why - they're pretty fun! And oh so easy to make yourself.
Here's a pic of a project done by Internodiciotto Fashion. Check out this tutorial which can easily be used on a pair of denim shorts.

DIY Dries Van Noten Inspired Dip Dye Jacket
As soon as the gorgeous Bianca of Il Etait Une Fois posted these pics of Dries Van Noten's dip bleached denim, I knew I just had to DIY my own version of the jacket with bleached sleeves. This is possibly the easiest DIY I've done in a while - and just involved soaking the cuffs of a thrifted denim shirt in some bleach overnight until they had became bright white.
Wearing: DIY jacket, Country Road White Singlet, Lace Shorts designed by me, Mango boots, Mac lippy.
This was my Dries Van Noten inspiration:
And here's a few pics of how I did it. Hopefully quite self-explanatory. Using undiluted bleach, and wet the sleeves before dipping the ends into the bleach. Leave them there for a few hours or overnight.

DIY Two Way Shirt
Found this cute Uniqlo shirt over at Shini's blog Park & Cube (literally my visual sugar). How good! If you dont have a Uniqlo near you why not make one yourself by adding some button and button holes to a shirt?

Sick to the power of rad
Ok so I have a confession to make - I am completely rubbish at doing outfit shots. I hate annoying my boyfriend by asking him to take pics of me, and never get the time to do them on my own. So you get another outfit layout - I hope you don't mind. This was easter Thursday evening - for dinner that somehow turned into a rooftop allnighter (argh). Tried not to look like too much of a hipster-cool-kid-wannabe with all sorts of shit going on but it was hard...
sequin short with ribbon belt designed by me, denim waistcoat from a thrift shop in north london (missing a button... sad face), sheer white tee from a random japanese brand, Nars laguna bronzer, mango bootines, awang pouchette.

DIY Blogger Discovery - Rar Traum Store
Have discovered another amazing DIY blog - Rar Traum Store. The lovely Gabriela contacted me and mentioned that she did a few DIYs... I checked out her blog and Phoahhhh! I think you would probably call her work designing rather than DIY - its a hell of a lot more than a slapdash craft project. What I particularly like about her work is her ability to take a piece of junk - even things she finds in the trash or in scrap bins - and turn them into something utterly amazing. She has made some amazing jewellery using stones, crushed glass, scrap metal and just about everything else, and I adore her crazy denim jacket - very Balmain. My favorite piece of hers is an amazing deconstructed clock. Head over to her blog and check it out yo.
Do you love her Gaga inspired crown?
