Neat, but youthful

If I've got a little time, I love trying new hairstyles on myself. Long hair provides lots of possibilities, so my hair is perfect to satisfy my creative needs. I try to heat my hair as little as possible, but I just bought a nourishing heat protection spray, so happily I'm able to use the curling- or flat iron more often. Unfortunately, my curling iron is very old and it doesn't work great anymore. So I need a better one. Then someone told me that a better alternative to create glamorous curls would be a flat iron. She's a hairdresser and she makes gorgeous curls with hers. I saw great flat irons here, and I was just wondering.. Do you think I'd do wise to buy one of those, or do you prefer a curling iron?

Then about my look of last Sunday. The hair is inspired by Gossip Girl's Serena. When I saw this hairstyle on her (season 3), I had to try it. I think it looks neat and classy, but playful at the same time. I did my best to create an outfit that's also characterized by these features. On the one hand I chose a sophisticated black blazer and my new Outfitters Nation pants, and on the other hand the snakeskin-printed pieces. I really like the balance between neat and youthful, and I hope you agree with me!

The cathedral

Churches, cathedrals and castles always generate mysticism. The beautiful buildings have existed for centuries. Their walls have seen everything. From heresies to the first ipad, from medieval soldiers to .. me, standing in front of this cathedral in my orange cardigan. The wind blew through my hair, and the rain was gone for a few minutes. Even though I was pretty tired (I had to wake up at 5 am on this lovely Sunday morning), I enjoyed every moment viewing this spectacular building.

Snaky

I'm sorry, but no big stories for today. I just wanted to show you the outfit I wore yesterday. It was the first time I styled my new snakeskin printed top. I immediately fell in love with it when I saw it here a couple of days ago. It has exactly the same print and color as the shoes, so I wanted it in my life as soon as possible. What do you think of the look?

The greenish person

Don't change yourself into someone else because you're different than the majority; try to love your uniqueness.

The funniest fact about my eyes is that their color looks different depending on the color of my outfit. When I wore this mostly green outfit to lecture last Monday, they turned out really green. However, other times they want to be grey, blue or a colorful mix of grey green ánd blue at the same time. The look was inspired by my new green bag (available here). I chose to create a more casual look with jeans and a vest I tied together with a sparkling gold belt. The faux fur trimmed scarf is one of my favorites for autumn, so I'm really glad the time of the year allowed me to grab that one out of my closet again.

Snakeskin on my feet

Veni, vidi, vici! - I came, I saw, I conquered!

Let's keep the quote of the day brief. As you might know, this quote isn't mine, in contrast to the foregoing ones. It's a sentence reportedly written by Julius Caesar, as comment to a very short war he waged. I read his Latin writings in high school, and I have to say I loved the language and the stories he wrote. The culture of that time has always interested me.

But enough about that. It's time for the outfit with my oh so beloved snakeskin booties. I like the combination of them with maroon so much. However, to avoid a totall messy look full of different shades and textures, I kept the rest of the outfit serene with black items. Have a nice Tuesday, everyone!

Meet my new lovers

I was on the hunt for the perfect leather ankle boots for weeks now, so when I stood face to face with these beauties, I was more than delighted. The feeling of ecstasy became even more intense when I noticed one pair of limited edition snakeskin shoes, in the corner of the store. Unexpected purchases are the most satisfying, I guess.

I'll show today's outfit with my new black treasures tomorrow!
