Increased level of comfort

Dreaming with eyes wide open is better than living your life while keeping your eyes closed. Don't ignore the small but beautiful things in life. Before you know, you miss your golden opportunity.

My apologizes for this cryptic one, but it's all true (in my opinion) so I want to share these thoughts with you. However, in case you don't feel like deciphering a quote at this time of the day, just take a look at the picture beneath. The outfit isn't a special one, but probably it's inspirational in case you're searching for a veeery comfortable, warm, and layered weekend look. ;-)

Retrospect (PART I)

Hiyaaaaa, there I am again with a new blogpost. The word "new" in this context is probably a bit questionable, because this post is a retrospect on the last year. It's hard to imagine I didn't have a blog over just one year ago. Blogging definitely became my lifestyle, and I'm glad I started the blog-adventure last summer. But enough sentimental stuff. You all know I love you and I'm so happy that you're following my blog, soooo let's talk about the post: If you like the idea, I think this one will be the first of a series of retrospect-posts.These looks are pretty recent, so probably you'll still remember a few of them. What's your favorite?

Outfit: "Autumnal colors"

I'm pretty envious when I'm looking at other blogs and notice many people are still able to go outside with bare legs. Even though I love hunting for new autumn clothes, I'd kill someone for wearing skirts and sandals again (in a way of speaking, of course). However, since I can't change the weather, let's focus on the positive side of it: I'm allowed to combine my favorite colors for fall endlessly. And even better: I combine these shades without getting bored of them. It seems like it can't stop wearing them, like there's a force outside of me that makes me obsessed with it. Haha, OK.. This becomes too dramatic..

My runway show

Thanks to your votes I was in the final of the Specsavers "glasses face 2011" competition today. I enjoyed it so much and I became 3th of The Netherlands! Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to wear my own beloved Spijkers en Spijkers glasses. I had a lovely stylist who chose two different frames and outfits for me to wear on the runway. The first picture is taken after the competition, when I wore my own glasses again. I met some amazing people today, and the team we worked with was very nice as well. After this experience, I'm even more sure than I already was that I want to work in the fashion industry after I finished university. I wish I was a few centimeters longer so that I could do modeling every single day ;-) But who knows? I like to dream big. And big dreams may come true, it just depends on how much you want something. And this is my passion, so I'll fight for it. Like a real warrior, haha.

Outfit: "Shredded part II"

I showed you one way to wear a shredded top (grey and knitted from Oh My Frock, in my case) in the previous post last Friday. Another - more casual - option is the combination I wore yesterday. I paired the top with my new Outfitters Nation jeans. Nothing but praise for the jeans of this brand. As you might know, I'm not a die hard jeans-girl, but because of Outfitters Nation I wear them much more! They are so comfortable and they all have a special aspect that distinguish them from the majority of jeans. This grey example has got the perfect shape and the pockets on the back are just perfect. To spice up the kind of monochrome look I chose some burgundy accents, like my nailpolish and the basic top. Like to put some "breaking points" into an outfit.

Outfit: "Business suit"

If you ask me, glasses are one of the best accessoiries when wearing a suit or a blazer. I paired them with red lips and two statement necklaces. Two necklaces? Why? Because I think only the black one should give a too serious look, and only the red one should break the whole. The use of these two necklaces together ensures that the separate items of the outfit complement each other. Further, a simple white tee and two-toned loafers to complete the black and white (and a pop of red) ensemble. It probably would seem that the bag clashes with the rest of the outfit because of its different color, but in my opinion it matches perfectly. I think it keeps the look a little playful, exciting and edgy.

Outfit: "Back to university"

Daily life has started again, now that the vacation is over. I used to get a new set of clothes for my first day at school, when I was younger. So, falling back to this tradition, I wore this new set of clothes on the first day after my summer break. I bought the blazer and the pants in London last week. I made the  navy sheer top myself, inspired by a off-white one I recently bought in H&M. Love to make combinations with different autumn-shades at the moment. Can't stop buying maroon, blue/navy, and ocher/mustard items.

Outfit: "The sweater"

The national final of the Specsavers competition is in two weeks. It's all about finding the spectacle face for their ad magazine, and besides the professional photoshoot which brings this, the winner also gets a modeling contract and a trip to Paris! It sounds overwhelming and totally stunning, don't you think? I can't describe how excited I am about the fact I've got the opportunity to participate in the final! And it's all thanks to your votes, thank you so much.

I wore this outfit yesterday. It has a high comfort-level, but though I think it's fashionable. The sweater is a new buy, and I love the fact it's so similar to the same-colored Isabel Marant sweater you probably have seen somewhere on the Internet. It's the perfect example of a translation of a designer item into a more affordable one.

Never showed material

I'm still on vacation and I've to confess I truly believe this place is paradise itself. The weather, the people, the culture.. Everything is as it should be. I'll fully enjoy every moment untill I have to leave this beautiful country. But before I show you some holidaypictures, I've got some never showed material for you. *drum rolls*

The never showed material consists of pictures of a few outfits I wore in the last two and half months. The looks vary from androgyne to indian summer to glamour with gold, and so on. 1) The first look I wore with a jeans jacket resting on my shoulders - very Parisian -, 2) the second outfit roughly consists of a Prada bag, DIY sheer shirt, leather shorts and Spijkers en Spijkers glasses, 3) the third one is just a simple summerlook, with bright pink strapless top and oversized sunnies, 4) the fourth outfit I called indian summer because of the headband, and the white asymmetric dress, 5) and last but not least the fifth look is a glamourous one with a lot of golden jewelry, leather sandals, oversized sunglasses and a white shirt-dress.
